IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir conducted a field tour and operational assessment on Sunday in the Syrian sector. He was accompanied by Northern Command Commander Maj. Gen. Ori Gordin, Brig. Gen. Yair Palai, and other senior commanders.

Defense and Offense Plans Approved
During the visit, Lt. Gen. Zamir spoke with soldiers and commanders operating in the field, received an up-close briefing on the operational picture, and approved continued plans for both defensive and offensive operations.

“This Territory Is Strategic”
Zamir emphasized the importance of maintaining Israeli presence in the area: “This is a vital region. We entered here because Syria collapsed. That’s why we’re holding key positions and standing at the forefront—to defend ourselves in the best way possible.”

He added: “From this location, you can see everything that’s happening along the ridge—this is a strategic point. We don’t know how things will develop here, but our presence has significant security value.”

Ongoing Mission: Protecting Civilians
The Chief of Staff concluded his visit by affirming: “IDF forces will continue operating in the security zone to defend Israeli civilians from any threat.”
