Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in Hungary this morning (Thursday). During his visit, the Hungarian government announced its decision to withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. In a joint statement with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Netanyahu remarked that Hungary had taken a bold stance against the Hague tribunal.
Later in the evening, the Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement that Netanyahu and Orbán had a conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump today. The central focus of their discussion was Hungary’s decision to withdraw from the ICC and the next steps that could be taken on this matter.

The Global Fight Against Radical Islam. Netanyahu noted that Hungary’s move positions both Israel and Hungary as part of the global fight against radical Islam and Iranian terrorism. He emphasized that Israel is fighting Iran and its proxies, and that this is a shared struggle for their values and common security. He also added that Hungary’s decision places the country in opposition to the negative trends spreading across Europe and among Western nations toward Israel.

Netanyahu Thanks Hungary for Cooperation
Regarding antisemitism, Netanyahu added that Hungary has always taken a clear and unequivocal stance against it, emphasizing the adoption of the IHRA definition as a standard for combating antisemitism. He stated that this definition should be adopted by any country that truly wants to address antisemitism, not only towards Jews but also towards the State of Israel.

Netanyahu also thanked Hungary for its expanding cooperation in various areas, including security, technology, and culture. He highlighted the growing relationship between the two countries, noting that their connection has been developing in recent years and strengthens with each new area of cooperation. He expressed a desire to continue fostering this relationship moving forward.
