The commander of the Tirat Carmel station, Chief Superintendent Erez Lachamish, displayed exceptional determination and resourcefulness when he rescued two dogs from an apartment that caught fire due to an electrical short circuit over the weekend, moments before they could have suffocated from smoke inhalation.
The fire broke out in an apartment near the police station, and following calls for help from the homeowner, the station commander quickly entered the heavily smoke-filled apartment. Together with the homeowner, he managed to locate and rescue the two dogs that were in immediate danger.

The dogs are not the only animals rescued in recent days. During Shabbat, a Guenon monkey was found hiding in a wardrobe at a house in the Abu Qrinat area in the south. This marks the 11th monkey of this species caught in the south out of 17 captured across the country.
