The American government detained the researcher, who is connected to the pro-Palestinian movement, and is working to expel him, claiming he poses a threat to U.S. foreign policy. This was reported yesterday (Wednesday) by the student’s attorney to the Reuters News Agency.
According to the report, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security attributes ties between the researcher, Bar Khan Suri, and the terrorist organization Hamas, as well as the dissemination of anti-Semitic propaganda and content associated with Hamas on social media.

Federal agents arrested the researcher outside his home in Roslyn, Virginia on Monday night, and he is currently awaiting a hearing in immigration court.

The Administration Is Following Through on Its Threats
This action follows the detention of Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian student who served as a student representative in negotiations with the administration of Columbia University, and was arrested by U.S. federal Immigration Authorities about two weeks ago. Khalil, who played a central role in the pro-Palestinian demonstrations on campus last year, was arrested in the university dormitory in Manhattan by agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
President Donald Trump stated at the time that Khalil’s arrest is just the first of many. “If you support terrorism, including the slaughter of innocent men, women, and children, your presence is contrary to our foreign policy and security interests, and you are unwelcome here.”
Marco Rubio, serving as Secretary of State in Donald Trump’s administration, tweeted on platform X: “We will revoke the visas and green cards of Hamas supporters in America so that they can be deported.”
