The IDF launched a planned and targeted strike against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, following the organization’s refusal to release the hostages, along with their rejection of all mediation proposals from the United States and other countries. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a security assessment today with Defense Minister Israel Katz and the heads of the security establishment, before making a statement to the press from the Kirya in Tel Aviv.

Later this evening, Netanyahu will hold a security consultation regarding the hostages, with the participation of senior political and security officials and the negotiation team. At 9:00 PM tonight (Israel time) a government meeting will convene, and Netanyahu will release a public update on the situation.
