Jerusalem Marathon’s Tribute to the IDF
The International Winner Marathon will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, bringing together tens of thousands of runners from across Israel and the world. This year’s marathon will serve as a tribute to the IDF, security forces, and emergency responders, honoring their immense contributions during the Iron Swords War.

Special Discounts for Security Forces
As a token of appreciation for their service and dedication to the country, special discounts will be granted to participants from the security and rescue forces. Reservists will pay only 18 shekels for registration and can also register a spouse for 36 shekels. Other security and emergency service personnel will receive a 50% discount on registration fees.
Nova Festival Survivor Who Kept Running and the Marathon-Running Reservist
At the launch event held today (Tuesday) at the new athletics stadium in Givat Ram, the Mayor of Jerusalem presented an award of appreciation to marathon participants Orr Almog, a Nova Festival survivor who continued running under rocket and terrorist fire after being shot in the leg, and Orr Sheizaf, a marathon-running reservist and running coach, who was seriously injured during an operational mission in Gaza. The mayor remarked, “Both Orrs symbolize resilience, determination, and the triumph of the human spirit. Both miraculously survived unimaginable situations and managed to recover, run, and move forward.”

Returning to Life and the Track, Despite All Challenges
Sheizaf has been chosen as a Saucony brand ambassador for the second time at the marathon. This year, for the first time since his rehabilitation, he plans to run 5K—a symbolic distance representing his return to life and track despite all obstacles. Orr Almog, a passionate long-distance runner, will also run 5K. For her, this is a significant step in regaining her love for running and fulfilling her dream of completing a marathon. Beyond her physical recovery, Orr is also coping with the loss of ten of her friends who were murdered at the Nova Festival. Since her survival, she has embarked on an international advocacy mission, determined to share her story, honor her friends, and work toward bringing all the hostages home.
Running for the Soul
An award of appreciation was also given to Efrat Avraham, a resident of Shlomi and a mother of four, who was forced to leave her home and relocate to Jerusalem over the past year and a half. There, she joined a local running group, which became a significant instrument in strengthening her spirit and coping with the difficult times. Now, as she returns to the north, she is establishing running groups for both religious and secular women—creating a space for connection, empowerment, and community.
This year more than ever, the marathon symbolizes the national resilience of the Israeli spirit. It is a sporting and communal event that embodies values of hope and perseverance—highlighting the unique connection between history, culture, and Israeli determination.

The Marathon Route
The course runs through iconic landmarks in the capital, including the Israel Museum, the Supreme Court, the President’s Residence, the Old City walls and Armenian Quarter, the Tower of David, and Sultan’s Pool. This year, six race categories will be offered: full marathon (42.2K), half marathon (21.1K), 10K, 5K, family race (1.7K), and community race (800m).
Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion stated: “Once again, the Jerusalem Marathon will serve as a tribute to the IDF, security forces, and emergency responders, who lead our nation with courage and unwavering spirit during the most complex and challenging times. We are proud and excited to welcome tens of thousands of participants from Israel and around the world. Together, the marathon will celebrate strength, unity, the Jerusalem spirit, and the hope that defines the people of Israel.”
