Next week marks Tel Hai Day, commemorating a 1920 battle in which eight fighters led by famous one-handed Zionist hero Joseph Trumpeldor fell in Tel Hai. On that day, Trumpeldor uttered his legendary deathbed slogan: “It is good to die for our country!”
On March 11, 2025, a large-scale march will take place in Tel Hai under the theme of “Renewing the Covenant – Committed to the North.” Thousands of youths, soldiers, students, and citizens from Israel and the Diaspora will take part in the event.
The Nation of Israel Will Not Abandon the North Again
Initiated by the Betar Worldwide movement, this will be the first major public event in northern Israel since the war began. The gathering is aimed at strengthening the efforts to renew Israeli residence in the North, and making a clear commitment: The people of Israel will not abandon the North again. During the event, youth participants will sign the ‘Covenant Scroll’, a historic declaration of their commitment to continued Jewish settlement in the Galilee, inspired by the spirit of the fighters of Tel Hai.

Renewing the Covenant
In the initial months of the Swords of Iron War, an estimated 250,000 Israelis left their homes. Many of them have not yet returned. Yigal Brand, CEO of the World Betar movement, expressed his excitement: “105 years ago, Trumpeldor and his comrades fought to ensure the North remained Jewish. This year, after the state abandoned the Galilee for the first time, we are returning and renewing the covenant—we will not abandon the North again. We will fight for it, hold onto it, and rebuild it.”
