Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, in an interview with the Lebanese newspaper A-Diyar stated this morning (Tuesday), that Israel has set up a security zone over one kilometer within Lebanon, clearly indicating that it has not confined itself to the five points established during the ceasefire. “Lebanon is closely monitoring these actions,” he added, “and will not allow new facts to be imposed on the ground. Any change in the border situation requires a united national stance, and the international community must take responsibility in stopping the ongoing violations of Lebanese sovereignty.”

No Concessions on Hezbollah’s Weapon Issues
Regarding Lebanon’s reconstruction efforts after the war, Berri clarified that the country will not accept any attempts to impose political or military conditions as a prerequisite for international aid.
“We will not make concessions regarding issues related to Hezbollah’s weapons north of the Litani River or any other internal matters,” he noted. Berri emphasized that the country’s reconstruction must be a top priority, without compromising Lebanon’s sovereign rights.

Accusations Against Israel in the Syrian Arena
Nabih Berri accused Israel of attempting to interfere in Syria’s internal affairs, claiming it acts to alter the demographic composition of the country. He hinted at Israel’s statement this week regarding its readiness to protect the Druze amid the clashes in Jaramana near Damascus. “Israel is not content with actions in Lebanon; it is also trying to establish facts on the Syrian ground,” Berri claimed.
