Sharon Sharabi, Eli Sharabi’s brother who returned from Hamas captivity, shared today (Sunday) in an interview with Israeli news site Channel 12 that his brother has been invited to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.
According to him, Eli Sharabi and other former hostages will meet with Trump this coming Tuesday in Washington, with the aim of conveying to the American president the urgency of returning all Israeli hostages: “Tomorrow morning we are flying to the White House on Miriam Adelson’s plane, for a meeting on Tuesday with Trump.”
Give Me Another Half Pita
“Trump saw clips from Eli’s interview on the Israeli “Uvdah” program with English subtitles,” said Sharabi. “The goal is to explain to him as closely as possible the difficult situation of the captives and to motivate actions for their return.”
Report: Israel is working to extend the hostage deal by an additional 42 days.
Last Thursday, hostage survivor Eli Sharabi was interviewed on “Uvdah”, where he described the terrible suffering he endured in captivity: “The concept of a free person who can take fruit or water, this is what you dream about every day. You don’t care about the beatings you receive, and you get beaten, and they break my ribs. I don’t care; just give me another half pita.”
The hostage survivor continued to describe the hunger that gripped them: “You can really see your stomach sinking in. At some point, you don’t believe this is happening to your body. During the worst times, you eat a bowl of pasta once a day, which is about 250-300 calories.”
Eli Sharabi was kidnapped during the attack on October 7 and held captive for 491 days. He was released as part of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. It was only after his return home that the hostage survivor learned that his wife and two daughters were murdered during the deadly Hamas attack on the morning of the holiday of Simchat Torah.
