Family of Israeli Hostage Get an Unexpected Sign of Life

The family of Nimrod Cohen has identified him in a video featuring other hostages, released earlier today (Saturday) by the Hamas terror organization in their effort to put pressure on Israel amidst negotiations.

Identified by a Distinctive Tattoo
The video published by the terror organization was focused on Iair Horn, who was released in the sixth round of the hostage deal, saying goodbye to his brother Eitan, who remained in Hamas captivity in Gaza. But in an interview with Ynet, Nimrod’s father described how they identified their son in the video: “It’s easy to recognize Nimrod by his arm. He got that tattoo just a few days before he was abducted,” he said. “There’s no doubt it’s him.”

Heartbreaking Footage of Yair and Eitan Horn
The video shows Iair and Eitan Horn embracing in their final moments together, with Eitan tearfully pleading for efforts to secure his release along with the remaining hostages in the next phase of the deal. The footage also includes released hostage Sagui Dekel Chen, as well as two other captives whose faces were blurred and who remain in captivity.

The Horn family released a statement:
“Our hearts are torn seeing Eitan in this unbearable situation—watching his brother walk to freedom while he remains trapped in Hamas’s hell, now for 512 days. You can see the despair and fear in Eitan’s eyes. Ever since Iair returned to us, he has not stopped thinking of Eitan and fighting for him and all the hostages he met in captivity who are still there.

We demand that decision-makers look Eitan in the eyes. Do not halt the agreement that has already brought dozens of hostages home. Time has run out! Bring them all back now, in one complete phase.”

Israel Will Not Be Intimidated by Hamas Propaganda
The Prime Minister’s Office responded to the video, stating:
“This evening, Hamas has released yet another cruel propaganda video in which our hostages are forced to serve as tools in psychological warfare. Israel will not be intimidated by Hamas’s propaganda. We will continue to act relentlessly to bring all our hostages home and to achieve all of Israel’s war objectives.”
