Meanwhile, security forces operated in Jenin, Qaffin, and Danaba, where six additional wanted individuals were arrested. During operations in Jenin, several ready-to-use explosive devices were located and destroyed, alongside the confiscation of illegal weapons and other armaments.
Yesterday, the IDF published the fact that, for the first time since the 2002 Operation Defensive Shield, IDF tanks have begun operating inside the Jenin refugee camp. According to reports, the force consists of a single tank platoon, but the use of armored vehicles in a densely built area filled with terrorist activity represents a significant reinforcement of the ongoing military operation in the area.
The IDF is preparing for an extended stay in the refugee camp, with a permanent battalion set to continue operations in Jenin indefinitely. Israel Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that 40,000 Palestinians have so far evacuated from the refugee camps of Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams, and they are currently empty of residents: “Even UNRWA’s activities in the camps have ceased.”
