Today (Wednesday), a festive ceremony was held at the Pisgat Ze’ev Cultural Hall in Jerusalem to present the Minister of Education’s Award for Outstanding Active and Engaged Youth in memory of Elad Riven z”l. Since 2012, the annual ceremony has been held in his memory to inspire and encourage Israeli youth to continue their dedication to community service and strengthen Israeli society through social responsibility.

A Legacy of Giving and Courage
The Elad Riven Award was established in 2012 to honor the selflessness and bravery of its namesake. Riven, just 16 years old at the time, ran into the deadly Mount Carmel fires as a volunteer firefighter to help save lives. His heroism continues to inspire young Israelis to serve their communities with passion and dedication. “Elad’s story is a reminder of the incredible spirit of our youth,” said Dr. Tzvia Riven, his mother, who attended the ceremony. “We are raising a generation that believes in responsibility, sacrifice, and the power of unity.”
