Israel is currently working on the extension of the first phase of the deal through one or two additional exchanges, aiming to secure the release of the remaining six hostages. According to political sources, President Trump’s ultimatum is adding necessary and significant leverage in advancing the effort, with the possibility of the release happening as soon as this coming weekend.

Simultaneously, negotiations with mediators are underway to establish continued hostage releases under what is being referred to as “Ramadan Phases”; extension of the ceasefire in exchange for the release of additional hostages, especially those in critical medical condition.

“The United States Will Support Israel’s Decision”
Following the release of Sasha Troufanov, Iair Horn, and Sagui Dekel-Chen, President Trump reiterated the deadline he had set for Hamas earlier in a post on his social media: “Israel must decide by 12:00 U.S. time (19:00 Israel time) whether to apply further pressure on the organization to ensure the full release of the hostages. The United States will support whatever decision Israel makes.”

Following this, the Prime Minister’s Office announced that he is expected to convene the Security and Political Cabinet soon to determine Israel’s next steps.

Netanyahu Convenes Urgent Security Consultation
In response, Prime Minister Netanyahu called for a security consultation with Defense Minister Israel Katz, Minister Ron Dermer, and senior security officials. “Trump’s Firm Stance Led to Hostage Releases”
The Prime Minister’s Office addressed the effect of the powerful pressure exerted by the United States combined with the the increased military presence around Gaza on the continuation of the deal: “The fusion of reinforced IDF forces around the Strip and President Trump’s firm stance led to the release of three of our hostages today — despite Hamas’ prior refusal to free them.”

The statement also noted that Netanyahu “greatly values President Trump’s leadership and the continuous coordination with the United States,” adding that Israel considers American support a critical factor in its decisions regarding future dealings with Hamas.

Russia Claims Credit for Tropanov’s Release
Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued an official statement claiming that Sasha Tropanov’s release was made possible “thanks to consistent and focused actions by Russian diplomacy, including intensive contacts with Hamas leadership.” The statement added that “Russia will continue efforts to secure the release of another citizen held in Gaza.”

While Israel has not officially responded to Russia’s claims, political sources credit the success primarily to the combination of high military presence, diplomatic pressure, and the firm backing of the United States.
