Despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent demand that all hostages be released by Saturday, Israel has informed mediators that it wishes to continue the ceasefire deal in Gaza under its current framework, according to a report on the Arab news site, Al Arabiya on Wednesday. A high-level meeting between Hamas leadership and Egyptian officials is expected to take place today to discuss the next steps in the negotiations.

Egyptian Officials: ‘Breakthrough Possible in Ceasefire Talks’
According to a report in another Arab language news site, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, a Hamas delegation, led by senior official Khalil al-Hayya, concluded an extended meeting last night with Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Rashad.

Egyptian sources cited in the report, expressed optimism, stating that talks are advancing toward a breakthrough regarding both the ceasefire renewal and discussions over hostage returns.

IDF Conducts Large-Scale Drill Amid Hamas Threats
