Within 48 hours, two organ transplant marathons were held at Schneider Children’s Medical Center, during which seven children from across Israel underwent life-saving transplants thanks to organ donations.

In the first marathon, an 11-year-old girl received a liver transplant, two girls aged 10 and 11 received kidney transplants, and a 14-year-old girl received a heart and lung transplant. In the second marathon, a 3.5-year-old boy received a liver transplant, while two children aged 4 and 5 underwent kidney transplants.

Surgeries Performed One After Another
The transplants took place in the surgical suites of Schneider Medical Center, led by top-tier medical teams. The complex procedures were performed one after another, with meticulous coordination between the intensive care units and the transplant surgery department.

Four more transplants have been performed already this January, bringing the total number of life-saving transplants at Schneider to 11 since the start of the year.

All transplanted children are now recovering in Schneider’s intensive care and cardiac intensive care units. The medical team is closely monitoring their progress and emphasizes that the donors and their families have granted them an invaluable gift— the chance for a new life.
