President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced last night (Monday) on his social media platform, Truth, that he is freezing U.S. financial aid to South Africa, accusing the nation of severe human rights violations. “South Africa is seizing land and treating certain groups of people very poorly. It’s a terrible situation that the radical left-wing media doesn’t even want to mention. Massive human rights violations, at the very least, are occurring in plain sight,” the U.S. president wrote.

“The United States will not stand idly by – we will act. Furthermore, I am halting all future funding to South Africa until a full investigation into this situation is completed,” the president emphasized.
Trump’s move against the African nation follows South Africa’s legal actions at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, where it filed legal proceedings against Israel over the Gaza war. This led to the issuance of arrest warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
