Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff at his office this evening (Wednesday). The meeting comes amid Trump’s direct involvement in the ongoing hostage deal.
Trump’s envoy arrived in Israel yesterday and spent the day touring the Netzarim enclave and the Philadelphi Corridor. He was accompanied by Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer during the visit, considered unprecedented as no senior American official has visited the Gaza Strip in years.

Witkoff arrived in the region to assess the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas and to evaluate conditions on the ground. According to him, “The critical stage now is ensuring that the agreement is fully implemented so that we can move forward to the next phases, including the return of the deceased hostage remains.”

During his visit, the U.S. envoy is expected to meet with hostages freed during the recent exchange deals, and hear firsthand accounts of their experiences in captivity. American officials emphasized that the Trump administration is committed to ensuring the full implementation of the ceasefire while safeguarding Israel’s security interests.
“We Can Move on to the Next Stage of the Deal”
In an interview with Fox News a few days ago, Witkoff stated: “Implementing the agreement will likely be more challenging than finalizing the deal itself. But if we succeed, we can move to the next phase, which includes the return of many bodies. This is what President Trump wants, and we will make sure it happens.”
With renewed diplomatic momentum, Israel and the U.S. are intensifying efforts to hold Hamas accountable for the release of more hostages and to strengthen regional stability. As high-level negotiations continue, tentative hope is growing for further breakthroughs in the days ahead.
