IDF forces operating in southern Lebanon fired warning shots to deter perceived threats in several areas. According to the IDF, a number of suspects who posed a significant threat were apprehended and are currently being interrogated on-site.

“IDF forces deployed in southern Lebanon continue to operate in accordance with the understandings between Israel and Lebanon while monitoring Hezbollah’s attempts to re-establish a presence in southern Lebanon. The IDF will act to remove any threat to Israel and its forces,” the spokesperson stated.

Ceasefire Agreement in Question

Under the ceasefire agreement signed 60 days ago, Israel was scheduled to withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon today. However, Jerusalem announced that Lebanon has failed to meet the conditions requiring the deployment of thousands of Lebanese soldiers, alongside UNIFIL forces, to secure the withdrawal of Hezbollah north of the Litani River. As a result, Israel will not proceed with its withdrawal at this time.

Casualties Reported Amid Rising Tensions

The situation remains tense, with provocations reported near IDF forces. Lebanon’s Ministry of Health has reported two fatalities and 31 injuries from IDF fire. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has urged residents to remain calm and place their trust in the Lebanese Army. However, the recent incidents highlight the challenges faced by the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL in maintaining control and ensuring the implementation of the agreement.
