As hostages are being released and the IDF is leaving Gaza, a reservist from the Bazalt Company of the 10th Brigade named “G”, speaks with Rega News. “G” shares photos of blooming almond trees from the Netzarim Corridor and poetry written during his fourth round of reserve duty since October 7.

“Amid the roar of engines, the blaze of machine fire,
Through ruins and desolation, one may pause, admire—
Nature renewing, flowers softly bloom,
Even in war’s shadow, life pierces the gloom.

Sap rises in the trees, a quiet, hopeful art,
Whispering of life, a pulse within the heart.”

Ceasefire Violations

Due to Hamas violations of the ceasefire agreement—including the failure to release citizen, Arbel Yehud, and the non-delivery of a status report on hostages as part of Phase One—the Israeli government has decided to keep the Netzarim Corridor closed to civilian passage. Palestinian residents are not permitted to return to northern Gaza at this time.

Ensuring the Border Remains Closed

“G” describes the situation on the ground: “We’re on high alert, always with the tanks. Until now, we’ve been conducting searches inside houses, but we’ve moved outside to secure the border more. We’ve been stationed in the Netzarim Corridor for about a month and a half. Now, under the ceasefire, our task is to ensure that Gazans don’t cross.”

He adds, “We’re spending a lot of time in the tanks, but there’s been almost no shooting lately.”
