Israeli officials expressed optimism today (Thursday), suggesting that the ongoing crisis surrounding the hostage deal is nearing resolution. This development comes despite conflicting reports from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office and unnamed Israeli sources earlier in the day.
Reports indicate that the main sticking point between Hamas, the terrorist organization, and Israel concerns the identities of the prisoners slated for release. However, sources believe significant progress has been made, and the dispute could be resolved within hours.

Earlier today, a senior diplomatic official clarified that contrary to rumors circulating in the media over the past 24 hours, Israel will not withdraw from the Philadelphi Corridor as part of the hostage deal. The official emphasized that Israel will maintain its current presence throughout Phase A of the operation, spanning all 42 days:
“The size of our forces will remain unchanged, but deployment will be adjusted, with fortified outposts, patrols, surveillance, and control maintained along the entire corridor.”
The official further added: “During Phase A, beginning on the 16th day, negotiations to end the war will commence. If Hamas refuses Israel’s terms to end the conflict (achieving the war’s objectives), Israel will remain in the Philadelphi Corridor on Day 42 and beyond, including Day 50.”
