This morning (Monday), Ami, a resident of Emmanuel, found himself at the scene of the shooting attack in the village of Funduq, where three Israelis were murdered. In moments of extraordinary bravery and resourcefulness, he managed to prevent a greater disaster through swift and determined action.

“At the entrance to Funduq, there was a traffic jam. I stopped and heard intense gunfire from afar,” Ami recalled. “The left lane was open, so I sped toward the source of the gunfire. I saw two terrorists firing at a bus. I opened fire on them from inside my car. Apparently, because of my gunfire, they fled.”

“You Saved the Lives of Dozens”

The head of the Shomron Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, met Ami at the scene and praised him for his quick actions:
“You are a hero of Israel. You saved the lives of dozens of people on that bus. We saw the injured men and women. If you hadn’t engaged and fired, the outcome could have been completely different. On behalf of all of Israel, I salute you.”

Dagan also issued a call to the government and senior IDF command to change their policies in the Judea and Samaria region:
“We demand the immediate closure of all security checkpoints, a military maneuver in the northern Samaria area, and the dismantling of the Palestinian Authority’s terror funding infrastructure. We will never break; we will only grow stronger.”
