Ofri Yacobi, 17, from the Hevel Modi\u2019in Orienteering Club, won a gold medal at the European Championships for girls under 18, held in the Czech Republic. Ofri not only won the 3 km sprint event but did so as the youngest competitor in her category, finishing five seconds ahead of her Latvian and Swiss rivals.<\/p>\n
The victory was achieved thanks to skilled map reading, precise route choices, and excellent technical execution in the final stretch. Orienteering: Strength, Thinking, and Speed<\/strong> \nThe sport of orienteering combines high physical fitness, accurate map reading, and real-time decision-making. Competitors run across terrain following a course marked only on a map, and whoever completes it in the shortest time wins.<\/p>\n
In Israel, orienteering competitions take place every weekend across the country, and the sport\u2019s community proudly notes that everyone is welcome to join and try. Ofri Yacobi, a high school student entering 12th grade, has become an inspiration for the younger generation in the sport.
