Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu published a statement this morning (Thursday) on social media, thanking U.S. President Donald Trump for his warm words and support for the State of Israel. “Thank you, President Trump, for your touching support of me and your tremendous support for Israel and the Jewish people,” Netanyahu wrote, adding: “We will continue to work together to defeat our shared enemies, free our hostages, and rapidly expand the circle of peace.”<\/p>\n

Trump: “Bibi was a fighter\u2014perhaps the greatest in Israel\u2019s history”
\n<\/strong>Netanyahu\u2019s remarks came in response to a long and unusual post Trump published overnight on his social network, Truth Social. In his message, Trump described his cooperation with Netanyahu against Iran as “fighting a very tough and brilliant longtime enemy,” and praised Netanyahu in exceptional terms: “Bibi could not have been better, sharper, or stronger in his love<\/strong> for the incredible Holy Land…Bibi Netanyahu was a warrior<\/strong>, like perhaps no other warrior in the history of Israel”.<\/p>\n

Trump further claimed that their cooperation led to “a complete elimination of potentially one of the biggest and most powerful nuclear weapons anywhere in the world.” According to him, “We were fighting, literally, for the Survival of Israel, and there is nobody in Israel\u2019s History that fought harder or more competently than Bibi Netanyahu.”<\/p>\n

Call for “immediate pardon”
\n<\/strong>Trump primarily addressed Netanyahu\u2019s legal situation, calling it a “horror show” ongoing since 2020. He described the indictment against Netanyahu as a “politically motivated case” and a “witch hunt,” asserting that the charges are “unfair charges” meant solely to do him harm. Trump concluded with a call: “Netanyahu\u2019s trial should be CANCELLED, IMMEDIATELY, or a Pardon given to a Great Hero.”<\/p>\n

Netanyahu\u2019s statement did not address this part of Trump\u2019s remarks. However, minutes after the statement was published, it was reported that the Prime Minister had requested the Jerusalem District Court to postpone his scheduled testimony by two weeks, citing security matters that, according to him, require his personal presence and leadership. The request was submitted by his attorneys and is awaiting the court\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n
