The lives of Itai Mason, a 16-year-old from Netanya, and his father David were miraculously saved after they were wounded by shrapnel during the fall of an Iranian missile in downtown Haifa. The two, who were standing under a bridge seeking shelter, were hit by shrapnel \u2013 Itai in his neck and David in his upper body.<\/p>\n

Just Millimeters from the Main Artery
\n<\/strong>Itai was evacuated to Rambam Hospital in serious condition and immediately taken to surgery. Tests revealed that two pieces of shrapnel had stopped mere millimeters from the main artery in his neck \u2013 where it a would have caused instant death.<\/p>\n

Doctors Dr. Wisam Matanes and Dr. Roi Noy performed a complex surgery to remove the shrapnel.<\/p>\n

“It Was a Great Miracle”
\n<\/strong>“It was a great miracle,” said Itai’s father David, a resident of Kiryat Ata who immigrated from Manchester, and is currently also hospitalized alongside his son in the underground trauma unit at Rambam Hospital.<\/p>\n

“The boy has already been in several accidents, but as we say \u2013 the British have 11 lives.”<\/p>\n

Strike in Downtown Haifa
\n<\/strong>Itai nearly lost his life in yesterday (Friday) in the afternoon hours, when a barrage of about 20 missiles was launched from Iran toward Israel. One missile made a direct hit in downtown Haifa. Around 20 casualties were reported, two of them in serious condition and another in moderate-to-serious condition.
