After weeks in which her personal life was at the center of public attention, on Saturday evening Emily Damari decided to pause. In an Instagram story, the former hostage appealed to her supporters, followers, and the media: to respect her wishes, allow her to live quietly, and give her the space to heal at her own pace.<\/p>\n

\u201cI understand the interest in knowing what\u2019s going on,\u201d she wrote, clearly referring to the public response surrounding her and her highly publicized return home. \u201cBut I\u2019m asking you to give me my privacy and to respect me. I love you all so much \u2014 but I\u2019m in the middle of my rehabilitation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo interest in paparazzi\u201d<\/strong>
Emily, who has become one of the most recognized faces associated with the fight to bring home the hostages, added that she \u201cneeds the safest, closest, and most supportive space possible.\u201d She asked people not to share photos or footage of her without permission: \u201cI\u2019m not interested in paparazzi, in unauthorized photos, or anything of that sort.\u201d<\/p>\n

The public appeal comes just days after she posted another, deeply emotional story, in which she described her first night sleeping in her own home \u2014 after 471 days of brutal captivity in Gaza. \u201cFulfilling something of my own,\u201d she called it.
