The White House confirmed over the weekend that the United States has submitted an official proposal to Iran for a new nuclear agreement. The proposal was delivered to Tehran through Omani mediation, following several months of quiet contacts between the two countries.
\nDr. Dan Diker President of the Jerusalem Center for Security and Foreign Affairs opined: \u201cWe should give Trump a few more weeks to prove his pressure isn\u2019t working\u2014then we can act with force.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIran will never be allowed to obtain a nuclear bomb\u201d<\/strong>
\nIranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed the receipt of the proposal. He stated that he received \u201celements of the American proposal\u201d from his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi. Araghchi emphasized that Iran would respond \u201cbased on its principles, national interests, and the rights of the Iranian people.\u201d<\/p>\n

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt commented on the proposal, saying, \u201cThe American offer is detailed and acceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cIt would be in Tehran\u2019s interest to accept it.\u201d According to her, \u201cPresident Donald Trump has made it clear that Iran will never be allowed to obtain a nuclear bomb.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although full details of the proposal have not been released, it comes in the wake of a troubling report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which revealed that Iran has amassed over 400 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60%\u2014a level very close to the 90% required for producing nuclear weapons.<\/p>\n

According to the report, Iran possesses enough enriched uranium to manufacture approximately 10 nuclear bombs, pending further enrichment. It also stated that Iran is currently enriching uranium at a pace equivalent to one bomb per month. This makes it the only non-nuclear state in the world with uranium enriched to such a high level.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a real window of opportunity\u201d<\/strong>
\nAgainst this backdrop, Dr. Diker describes Israel\u2019s position in relation to Iran as a dangerous dilemma. \u201cOn one hand, we have a real opportunity to delay or even eliminate Iran\u2019s nuclear program. On the other\u2014without the U.S., it will be extremely difficult, if not impossible.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to him, the Iranian regime is \u201cthe weakest it\u2019s been in 46 years,\u201d yet fully aware of the rift between Jerusalem and Washington\u2014which, in turn, emboldens it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we hesitate and back down\u2014we lose\u201d<\/strong>
\nDiker believes the answer is tactical patience. \u201cI believe, and am confident, that there will be no deal with the Iranians. We should give Trump a few more weeks to show that his pressure isn\u2019t working\u2014then we can act with full force. We\u2019ll have the backing of our most important ally. We mustn\u2019t tell the Americans we can\u2019t wait\u2014that only weakens our position.\u201d<\/p>\n

Diker concluded his remarks to the media with a firm message: \u201cIsrael still has the same resolve it showed in September 2024\u2014when we dealt a devastating blow to Hezbollah\u2019s capabilities.
