The ambitious \u201cMillion in Samaria\u201d plan is entering a practical phase: Minister of Construction and Housing Yitzhak Goldknopf announced today (Thursday) the allocation of 30 million shekels for the immediate planning of 13 new cities and five industrial zones in Samaria. The announcement was made from the temporary office of Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan, established near the site where Tzeela Gaz, of blessed memory, was murdered.<\/p>\n

A Response to Terror: Building and Growth<\/strong>
\nThis move comes just days after the deadly terrorist attack near Bruchin and is widely seen as a firm message: construction in place of destruction.<\/p>\n

\u201cTerror is trying to drive us out \u2013 and we will respond with growth,\u201d said Dagan. According to him, the funding will allow for the planning of infrastructure for tens of thousands of housing units, industrial zones, a hospital, a railway, an airport, and new communities \u2013 some in areas evacuated during the Disengagement.<\/p>\n

Vision: One Million Residents by 2050<\/strong>
\nThe initiative aims to increase Samaria\u2019s population from 140,000 to 1.15 million by the year 2050, through the construction of new cities (including \u201cRehavam\u201d and \u201cGilboa\u201d), expansion of existing communities (such as Itamar, Hermesh, and Elon Moreh), and connecting them to regional and intercity transportation networks.<\/p>\n
