Among the thousands attending the EAT Tel Aviv food festival this week, one booth stood out in particular: Azerbaijan \u2014 a Shiite Muslim country and a close ally of Israel \u2014 hosted an official food stall featuring a strictly kosher menu.<\/p>\n

Azerbaijan was the only country at the event to be officially represented by its government. The festival is considered one of the largest and most prestigious culinary events in the world. The booth is operated by the Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB), in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Israel, and serves authentic dishes from the Caucasus region. These are prepared by Chef Moti Yevdayev, an Israeli of Azerbaijani descent.<\/p>\n
