Ahead of Israel\u2019s 77th Independence Day celebrations, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) released new figures today showing that Israel\u2019s population has passed a historic milestone: over 10 million citizens now call Israel home. The surge reflects Israel\u2019s continued strength, driven by high birth rates, robust immigration, and a strong national spirit of growth and renewal.<\/p>\n

The Shape of Israel Today<\/strong>
\nAs of 2025, Israel\u2019s population stands at 10.094 million: 7.732 million Jews (77.6%), 2.114 million Arabs (Muslims, Christians, and Druze) (20.9%), and 248,000 residents (2.5%) classified as “other.”<\/p>\n

This marks an increase of 135,000 people compared to last Independence Day, fueled by: 174,000 births, 28,000 new immigrants, and a decrease in mortality (50,000 deaths). Meanwhile, about 56,000 Israelis spent the past year abroad, resulting in a slight negative migration balance.<\/p>\n

Twelvefold Growth Since 1948<\/strong>
\nWhen Israel was founded in 1948, the population stood at only 806,000. Over 77 years of statehood, nearly 3.5 million immigrants have made Israel their home\u2014including 1.66 million (47.6%) who arrived since 1990 alone.<\/p>\n

Today, 80% of Israeli Jews are native-born, a powerful testament to the thriving life Israel has built.<\/p>\n

One of the Youngest Nations in the Western World<\/strong>
\nThe report highlights Israel\u2019s youthful energy: 27% of the population are children aged 0\u201314, while 13% are seniors aged 65 and above. These demographics place Israel among the youngest nations in the developed world.<\/p>\n
