Following the mysterious explosion at the Bandar Abbas port in Iran, an Israeli political official today (Monday) addressed the swirling rumors, clarifying to reporters that \u201cthere is no known connection between Israel and the Bandar Abbas incident.\u201d The official urged against rushing to conclusions and emphasized that Israel is pursuing a responsible and cautious policy.<\/p>\n

Regarding relations with the United States on the Iranian nuclear issue, the official stated that \u201cthere is an ongoing dialogue at many levels\u201d between the two governments, stressing: \u201cThe dialogue is not one-sided \u2013 we also present our positions. There is an intimate and strong relationship between the governments, and I am convinced that the United States is committed to preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.\u201d<\/p>\n

Our patience is not unlimited<\/strong>
\nConcerning the situation in Gaza and efforts to secure the release of hostages, the official said that Israel continues negotiations but warned: “We are still trying to exhaust efforts for a hostage release deal \u2013 but our patience is not unlimited.”<\/p>\n

He criticized Qatar\u2019s involvement in the talks, stating: \u201cUnfortunately, the Qataris have had a negative influence on the negotiations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Regarding new proposals from Arab states, which reportedly include ideas for a prolonged ceasefire, the official was resolute: \u201cThere is no chance we will agree to a hudna<\/em> (temporary ceasefire) with Hamas that would allow them to rearm and recover.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the official, Israel views Hamas as a strategic threat and will not agree to any temporary arrangements that would enable the organization to continue its fighting capabilities in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
