The event includes keynote addresses by the President and Prime Minister, the lighting of six torches by Holocaust survivors in memory of the six million murdered, as well as readings, musical performances, the recitation of Kaddish, the prayer \u201c<em>El Maleh Rachamim<\/em>,\u201d and the reading of a chapter from Psalms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This year\u2019s theme: \u201cFrom the Depths: Pain, Liberation, and Growth\u201d<\/strong><br \/>\nThis year\u2019s ceremony marks 80 years since the surrender of Nazi Germany, under the theme: \u201cFrom the Depths: Pain, Liberation, and Growth.\u201d The central moment of the evening includes the lighting of six memorial torches by <a href=\"https:\/\/reganews.co.il\/en\/israel-honors-survivors-in-national-yad-vashem-torchlighting-event\/\">Holocaust survivors<\/a>, the message from the survivors delivered by 95-year-old Eva Erben, and the prayer \u201c<em>El Maleh Rachamim<\/em>\u201d recited by 87-year-old survivor Yehuda Hauptman.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The official Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony has begun at Yad Vashem, featuring six torchlighters \u2013 all Holocaust survivors.
