The difficult operational incident that took place over the weekend in the northern Gaza Strip claimed the life of Master Sergeant Galeb Suleiman al-Nassasra z\u201dl, a veteran tracker and father of three from Rahat. \u201cGaleb was a pro\u2014he was trying to figure out what happened\u201d<\/strong> \nThe wounded tracker shared his account from the hospital with Channel 12 News: \n\u201cWe went out to evacuate the wounded\u2014we didn\u2019t know exactly what had happened. When we got to the scene, Galeb got out of the vehicle without hesitation. He tried to understand the situation and act quickly. He wasn\u2019t afraid\u2014he was focused. He led us to the spot where the vehicle had been hit, and then\u2014an explosion. A powerful IED went off. Galeb was hit, and I was seriously wounded.\u201d<\/p>\n
A complex scene, fierce fighting<\/strong> \nThe incident occurred during the holiday and Shabbat, while IDF forces were operating in the Beit Hanoun area. According to a preliminary investigation, the terrorists emerged from a tunnel that had not been previously detected. They fired an RPG at a force from the IDF\u2019s 414th Combat Intelligence Collection Battalion, injuring two female soldiers.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe knew the risk was high\u2014but he moved forward anyway\u201d<\/strong> \nMaster Sergeant Galeb Suleiman al-Nassasra was 35 years old when he fell. He had served as a tracker since his mandatory service and continued in a permanent position in the Northern Brigade. His comrades describe him as a dedicated, skilled fighter, beloved by his peers, and always the first to go in\u2014even in the most challenging situations.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe understood how complex it was, but that didn\u2019t stop him,\u201d the tracker said. \u201cHe wanted to make sure the wounded were safe, that the area was clear. That mattered more to him than anything.\u201d<\/p>\n
It\u2019s worth noting that Master Sergeant al-Nassasra is the first IDF soldier to fall since fighting resumed in Gaza in March, as part of Operation Might and Sword<\/em>.
