On Sunday, the Knesset\u2019s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee approved the first reading of a proposed bill that would hold the Palestinian Authority (PA) financially accountable for terror-related damages in Israel. The legislation was introduced by MK Avichai Boaron.<\/p>\n
Groundbreaking Legal Shift<\/strong> Each year, Israeli citizens pay billions of shekels in damages caused by terrorist attacks\u2014through property taxes, national insurance, and other public expenses. At the same time, billions are transferred annually to the PA through tax revenue collections. \nUnder the proposed law, Israel would deduct a monthly amount from the funds it transfers to the PA, equivalent to one-twelfth of the total Israel paid in terror-related compensation to Israeli victims during the previous year.<\/p>\n
\nFor decades, the Palestinian Authority has incited, funded, and glorified terror,\u201d said MK Boaron. \u201cThis is the first time we\u2019re making them pay a civil price for that.
