An emergency security assessment was held today (Thursday) at the Southern Command, attended by the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Israel Katz. Prior to the meeting, senior security officials conducted a preliminary discussion in preparation for the meeting with the Prime Minister.<\/p>\n

As the security assessment was taking place, The Wall Street Journal<\/em> reported that mediators are working to accelerate the release of the remaining living hostages Hamas was supposed to return in Phase A of the agreement.<\/p>\n

According to the report, negotiators are attempting to secure the release of three additional hostages by this coming Saturday, followed by an expedited release process for the remaining six hostages.<\/p>\n

Two Chiefs of Staff, One Intense Assessment<\/strong>
\nThe situational assessment was conducted to examine the latest security developments in the region, provide a thorough update on operational activities, and prepare for further threats in the south and other fronts.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by two Chiefs of Staff; outgoing Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and incoming Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir. Also present were Defense Minister Israel Katz, Minister Ron Dermer, National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi, Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar, Southern Command Commander Major General Yaron Finkelman, and other senior IDF and Shin Bet officials.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister received a comprehensive security briefing from the participants regarding the IDF\u2019s readiness for all possible scenarios, taking Hamas’ unpredictable and ruthless behavior into account.<\/p>\n

Israeli security leaders remain steadfast in their commitment to both national defense and the safe return of the hostages. As negotiations continue, the IDF stands prepared for any scenario to ensure the security of Israel and its citizens.<\/p>\n
