\nEarlier today, the Sunday Telegraph reported that senior Iranian military officials urged Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to accelerate nuclear weapons development. According to them, “Iran has never been this vulnerable, and this may be the last opportunity to achieve this before it is too late.”<\/p>\n
In response to these statements, along with additional remarks from leaders of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Iran\u2019s supreme leader declared that the country must develop nuclear weapons to counter “existential threats from the West.”<\/p>\n “If They Threaten Our Security \u2013 We Will Threaten Theirs”<\/strong> In an interview with The New York Times<\/em> this morning, President Trump said that he prefers to make a deal with Iran regarding the nuclear weapon issue. “I prefer that over bombing them to pieces. They don\u2019t want to die, nobody wants to die. If we make the deal, Israel won\u2019t bomb them.”<\/p>\n Trump’s statement wasn’t made randomly. During last week\u2019s meeting between Trump and Netanyahu, the Prime Minister revealed the two are completely in sync in their approach to the Iran issue: “This is the same Iran that tried to kill both of us. \nOn Friday, Khamenei sent a threatening message to US President Donald Trump, stating: “If the United States threatens us, we will threaten them. If they carry out their threat, we will carry out ours. If they harm our security \u2013 we will harm theirs, without hesitation.”<\/p>\n
\nNetanyahu emphasized: “The President’s statement is the core of everything we have been saying: Iran cannot have nuclear weapons. We completely agree on this. If we can achieve it through a maximum pressure campaign, so be it. The most important thing is the goal.”<\/p>\n
