The two held a meeting with their respective teams before continuing in a one-on-one discussion. The meeting was part of Netanyahu\u2019s diplomatic visit to the U.S. capital.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We Have a Long Memory \u2013 and So Do You<\/strong><br \/>\nDuring their conversation, Hegseth told Netanyahu, \u201cI\u2019ve been to Israel eight or nine times. I\u2019ve been to the Western Wall, I\u2019ve seen the IDF in action. This is significant for the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>You Eliminated Those Who Killed U.S. Marines<\/strong><br \/>\nReferring to the elimination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Hegseth stated, \u201cYou eliminated those responsible for the deaths of U.S. Marines.\u201d He then reassured Netanyahu, \u201cWe have a long memory, and so do you\u2014we will supply the ammunition that was not delivered.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Netanyahu to <em>Fox News<\/em>: \u2018Trump Is Israel\u2019s Best Friend in the White House\u2019<\/strong><br \/>\nDuring an interview with Sean Hannity on <em>Fox News<\/em>, Netanyahu enthusiastically endorsed Donald Trump\u2019s plan for Gaza, which proposes U.S.-led economic development in the region. \u201cThis is a brilliant idea,\u201d Netanyahu stated. He went on to praise the former president, emphasizing their strong relationship and calling Trump \u201cthe best friend Israel has ever had in the White House.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-IRn1k4QTXc?si=Ot64z0_mTB21ghLO\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Israel Is Strong Thanks to the Spirit of Its People<\/strong><br \/>\nAt the start of the interview, Hannity expressed condolences for the October 7 attacks and condemned Hamas\u2019s atrocities. He asked Netanyahu how Israel is coping with the difficult situation. Netanyahu responded: \u201cIsrael is strong because of the spirit of our people, the bravery of our soldiers, and the government\u2019s resolve against Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, who seek to destroy us. They thought they could succeed, but they have been destroyed instead. Our enemies are not just Israel\u2019s enemies\u2014they are also your enemies. We are simply standing in their way before they reach you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hannity then reminded Netanyahu of Israel\u2019s support for the U.S. following 9\/11, stating, \u201cI will never forget that.\u201d Netanyahu took the opportunity to highlight Trump\u2019s unwavering support for Israel: \u201cIt\u2019s simple\u2014he\u2019s the best friend Israel has ever had in the White House. In his first term, he recognized Jerusalem as Israel\u2019s capital and moved the U.S. embassy there, acknowledged Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal, and spearheaded the Abraham Accords. Look at what he\u2019s done just in recent days\u2014he released the ammunition we needed and took action against UNRWA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trump\u2019s Gaza Plan Is the First Good Idea I\u2019ve Heard<\/strong><br \/>\nHannity then asked Netanyahu about Trump\u2019s proposal for economic development in Gaza, which suggests that the U.S. and wealthy regional nations invest in rebuilding the Strip. \u201cIs this something you support?\u201d Hannity asked. Netanyahu responded: \u201cI don\u2019t think he plans to send American troops into Gaza to defeat Hamas\u2014that\u2019s our job. But he also said wealthy neighboring countries would finance it. What\u2019s wrong with allowing Gazans to leave if they want to rebuild Gaza? They can leave, return, or move elsewhere. This is the first good idea I\u2019ve heard. It\u2019s a brilliant idea. Hannity pointed out reports suggesting that Iran is close to obtaining a nuclear weapon.<br \/>\nNetanyahu responded: \u201cThere\u2019s no question that Iran wants nuclear weapons. They could have had them ten years ago if we hadn\u2019t acted to slow them down. They haven\u2019t been completely stopped, and we are actively discussing this issue.\u201d With a knowing smile, he added: \u201cTrump and I have said one simple thing\u2014Iran must never have nuclear weapons. That\u2019s all I can say about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Iran Is the Real Enemy<\/strong><br \/>\nWhen discussing relations with Arab nations, Netanyahu remarked that they now recognize Iran as the true regional threat: \u201cThey don\u2019t say it openly, but they have shifted from seeing Israel as their greatest enemy to understanding that Iran is the real threat. Israel is the only country that has actively fought against Iran. Iranian leaders have publicly stated that they want to wipe us out and take over the Middle East. We are not just fighting Iran for ourselves\u2014we are also doing it for our neighboring countries, for America, and for global peace. Iran must be stopped.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bringing the Hostages Home Remains Our Priority<\/strong><br \/>\nAs the interview neared its conclusion, Hannity asked whether Netanyahu believed all the Israeli hostages in Gaza would be returned home. Netanyahu reaffirmed: \u201cThis is one of our primary goals, alongside the elimination of Hamas and the removal of the threat from Gaza. We are committed to achieving all of these objectives. We have dismantled most of Hamas\u2019s military capabilities, although some remain, and we have rescued more than 70% of the living hostages. Hamas is so monstrous and ruthless that they even hold onto bodies for bargaining purposes. We are committed to bringing back all the hostages, both the living and the fallen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trump\u2019s Return Would Transform the Middle East<\/strong><br \/>\nNetanyahu concluded on an optimistic note, stating: \u201cI believe our cooperation will reshape the Middle East, just as Israel has done over the past year. Until recently, Iran was able to do whatever it wanted in the region. We stopped them\u2014largely on our own, but with crucial American support.
