During the jubilant celebrations for the release of the four female IDF scouts earlier today (Saturday), Israeli officials asserted that Hamas had violated the hostage agreement, which stated they were to release civilian hostages first. Despite expectations, hostage Arbel Yehud was not freed today, prompting Israel to determine Gazans would not be allowed to cross back to the northern part of the territory unless Yehud is freed ahead of the next phase of the agreement. Simultaneously, reports emerged regarding Israeli-American hostages potentially being freed soon.<\/p>\n

Netanyahu: No Movement North Until Arbel is Released<\/strong>
\nFollowing the breach of the agreement by Hamas, the Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement declaring that northern movement within Gaza would not be permitted until the agreement is honored.<\/p>\n

“Today, Israel received four female soldiers from the hands of the Hamas terror organization, and will release security prisoners according to the terms of the agreement,” the statement said. “In line with the agreement, Israel will not permit Gazan movement northward until Arbel Yehud\u2019s release is resolved, which was expected to take place today.”<\/p>\n

Last night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed the matter with top security officials. A final decision was made during a situational assessment today, coinciding with the return of the four female IDF scouts from captivity. The announcement was delayed in order to prevent jeopardizing their release.<\/p>\n

Gal Hirsch, the hostages and missing persons coordinator, has been in continuous communication with Arbel Yehud’s family and has spoken with them several times in recent hours. According to channel Saudi Al-Hadath <\/em>, “Israel is requesting that Arbel Yehud be released within two days.”<\/p>\n

Hamas: “Arbel Yehud Is Alive and Will Be Released Next Saturday”<\/strong>
\nA senior Hamas official told Al Jazeera<\/em>: “We informed mediators that Arbel Yehud is alive and will be released next Saturday.” An official Islamic Jihad representative also claimed “she is held by the Al-Quds Brigades of the Islamic Jihad.” According to terror group sources, Arbel is falsely alleged to be a “soldier” involved in “Israel\u2019s space program” \u2013 a baseless claim aimed at justifying her delayed release.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Hamas claimed difficulties convincing Islamic Jihad to release Arbel Yehud. However, Israeli officials rejected these claims, stating that the participation of Islamic Jihad operatives in the show of force held at Palestine Square today in Gaza proves the two groups are working in coordination, and Hamas can compel Islamic Jihad to act according to its will.<\/p>\n

IDF Spokesperson: Arbel Yehud and the Bibas Family Must Be Released<\/strong>
\nAfter the return of the released hostages to Israel, IDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Daniel Hagari addressed the media over the female scout still being held by Hamas. “We are committed to the return of Agam Berger, who remains in captivity,” he said, adding that the four released female scouts “are in safe hands and on their way home. This moment was long awaited by the people of Israel.”<\/p>\n

Hagari also criticized Hamas for breaching the agreement by failing to prioritize civilian hostages. “Hamas has not fulfilled its obligation to release civilians first. We insist that Arbel Yehud and the Bibas family return swiftly. We are gravely concerned about their fate and demand clarity about this, ensuring their quick return.”<\/p>\n

Report: The American-Israelis Expected to Be Released Next Week<\/strong>
\nAlongside Israel’s demands to prioritize the release of civilian hostages, the United States is pressuring Hamas to release hostages with American citizenship. A senior American official stated in an interview with NBC<\/em> that 65-year-old hostage Keith Sigal is expected to be released next Saturday as part of the third phase.
