In recent weeks, the Southern Brigade and the Bedouin Reconnaissance Battalion (585) concluded a targeted operation to dismantle terror and underground infrastructure in the southern Gaza Strip area. The operation involved both air and ground forces, resulting in significant disruption to Hamas\u2019s terror capabilities.<\/p>\n
The operation began with precise airstrikes guided by the brigade’s fire coordination unit. These strikes targeted anti-tank positions, booby-trapped buildings, and observation posts that posed risks to Israeli forces.<\/p>\n
In the course of the operation, the IDF\u2019s Gaza Division engineering unit, in collaboration with the elite Yahalom unit and Shin Bet forces, conducted a complex engineering and technological mission. During this mission, two offensive underground tunnels with a combined length of over two kilometers were exposed and destroyed. Approximately twenty exit shafts were identified within these tunnels, some of which were booby-trapped, and various weapons were also discovered.<\/p>\n
During the mission, forces encountered several militants emerging from the underground tunnels. These militants were eliminated by ground forces and airstrikes.
